For years Winchester gun safes have been known to be amongst the most dependable and reliable safes around, especially when it comes to damage from natural causes such as fires. The workmanship put into every Winchester gun safe is unbeatable, and is what separates their safes from the rest. Not only do all of their gun safes pass California DoJ standards, but they are also built to pass the even more stringent tests of Underwriters Laboratories. This guarantees consistency and integrity within each and every safe, and is why every year more and more people are trusting Winchester to protect their firearms.

We have created the following table to help you sort through the most popular Winchester Safes on the market today. Included on the lists are the Silverado, Big Daddy and Ranger Series of safes. Though all safes made by Winchester are made with the same top-of-the-line standards, there are a few differences amongst the ones included in our table. Below our chart you will find a short but informative guide on what these differences are.

Winchester Gun Safe Key Points

As mentioned above, all of the Winchester gun safes listed are manufactured with the same overall standards, with the exception of a few enhancements as you move up the production line. But before we get into the specifics, here’s a look at what it takes for all of these safes to have the Winchester name imprinted on them.

First and foremost, all of the gun safes are UL listed for protection from burglaries. This simply means that they have passed the rigorous testing by Underwriters Laboratories (UL) for burglary protection. If you’re not familiar with UL, they are a highly known, and widely used safety consulting and certification company, used by top businesses and governments around the world.  That being said, you should also note that these gun safes are also listed under UL’s lock standard as well!

They also sport a four-way locking bolt system and 14 locking bolts all around the sides of the doors.  Each locking bolt being at least a beastly 1-1/4″ of solid steel.

Design wise, the first thing that most customers notice is the signature door panel organizer that is included. As you move up the series, the number and size of the pockets increase as well. The doors on all of these safes contain what are called ‘strap hinges,’ which allow the door to conveniently open a 180 degrees, and even allow the door to be removed. This will definitely help when moving your safe into your home.

If you graduate into the Big Daddy and Silverado series, the safe size increases substantially, and the locking bolts are pumped up to 1-1/2″. That only things that separate the Silverado series apart from the other two safes would be it’s 10 gauge steel body, instead of the typical 12 gauge body, and also a power docking system with ethernet and USB connections.
